Role-shifting is more than being a narrator. It is the taking on of different people to tell excellent stories! As is with all forms of storytelling, it is especially important for the audience to know which character is speaking in any ASL story. The workshop on this DVD will focus on ASL storytelling techniques in 6 specific areas:
Developing story characters
Using role shift, eye gaze, and spatial referencing
Identifying speakers
Shifting between speakers
Matching speakers' affect
Understanding the difference between storytelling and discourse
Participants will have hands-on practice with the material presented in the workshop. (DVD, 90 mins, ASL, no voice) |
